Kenyans finding other ways to make a living during COVID-19 economic crunch

COVID-19 and measures taken by various governments to stop the spread of the deadly virus have strangled economies and wiped out jobs in several sectors. In Kenya, the worst hit are hospitality, tourism, wholesale and trade, horticulture, aviation as well as transport.

Millions of jobs have also been lost in the informal sector, despite the fact that Kenya did not impose a total lockdown.

With uncertainty hanging over the livelihoods of most Kenyans, many are turning their car boots into grocery stores as they race to feed their families.
