An estimated eight million people are expected back at work on June 1 when South Africa’s lockdown alert is eased from Level 4 to Level 3, a move which is set to increase the rate of COVID-19 infections.
President Cyril Ramaphosa made the announcement on Sunday, saying the government has had a number of consultations with various sectors of society, whom he says have ‘broadly agreed’ to this approach.
