Home Affairs extends deadline for Zimbabwean Exemption Permit

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Department of Home Affairs has extended the deadline for the submission of documents and biometrics for the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit until 31 January 2018.

Home Affairs Director General, Mkhuseli Apleni, however, said the deadline for online applications is still 30 November.

About 20 000 people still need to make the online appointment.

Apleni has urged holders of the Zimbabwean Special Permit, which expired in December, not to panic and use the online facility to make an appointment.

Once they have a receipt for that they will be legal in the country while completing the process.

“There’s no need to go and clog in the offices of VFS, because point No.1, you must do the online application by November 2017. Two, you will have two months to make your appointment, December and January. So, why do you panic? Three, you will be able to travel with your document that you currently have. With proof that you have applied you can go home for festive if you want.”
