Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation says South Africa needs assistance in getting the Gupta brothers back into the country to face the full might of the law.

The Foundation says the international community need to join forces with South Africa like they did to defeat Apartheid.

The family together with its business associates, is alleged to have defrauded South Africa close to R50 billion.

To celebrate, World Anti-Corruption day on Thursday, the Kathrada Foundation hosted a webinar attended by people in different parts of the world, calling on the Guptas to be brought back to South Africa.

The Anti-Corruption day has been celebrated since 2003.

It is in line with the UN’s approach to fight corruption.

The Foundation’s Chairperson, Derek Hanekom says:  “We need action taken. So, the extradition agreement is one step towards that action. International pressure is important. It’s really a travesty of justice that this grand corruption was really felt by the poor people in our society more than anyone else. And the perpetrators of this type of corruption are walking freely in another country in the world.”
