The GOOD party has announced its leader in the Western Cape Provincial Legislature, Brett Herron, as its mayoral candidate for the City of Cape Town ahead of the local government elections.

The party made the announcement in Cape Town.

GOOD party leader Patricia De Lille has described Herron as a well-accomplished individual with whom she worked while she was the mayor of the city. De Lille says this made it easy to arrive at a suitable candidate.

“I know Brett for many years, I served in the City of Cape Town where he served in different capacities. He served first as a mayoral committee member for community services and that meant he had to look after all the infrastructure for all our communities to make sure that they were functioning then the last eight years he was appointed the mayoral committee member for transport.”

Herron says there are many service delivery gaps his party needs to fill if he succeeds as mayor of Cape Town after the local government elections.

Herron elaborates on his vision,” I think Cape Town is a better city than the current administration. I think that the city has a generosity of spirit, I think it has a soul that is the Capetonians care about each other regardless of their race regardless of their social and economic circumstances. They care about each other but we have a government at the moment that is dividing people and that is demonstrating blatantly that care only about the small section of the community.”

The Constitutional Court has reserved judgment on the application by the IEC to have the October 27 elections postponed due to COVID-19.
