Former SA Revenue Service (SARS) acting commissioner Mark Kingon has reiterated the importance of restoring tax payer trust in the revenue authority.
He was speaking during a panel discussion at the Tax Indaba held in Johannesburg.
At same time, Finance Minister, Tito Mboweni, outlined a tax revenue collection target of over 1 point 4 trillion rand during his February budget speech.
But, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has since revised the country’s growth which spells trouble for tax revenue collections.
SARS has missed collection targets in the last couple of years.
