Floods unleashed by days of unseasonal heavy rain have killed at least 46 people and 11 were missing, India’s Interior Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday (October 21).
Shah conducted an aerial survey over the affected areas in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, along with the state Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and administrative officials.
Damaged food items, clothes, electrical appliances and vehicles were seen drying in the town of Rudrapur.
In February, more than 200 were killed in Uttarakhand after flash floods swept away a hydroelectric dam.
Monsoon rains in India usually last from late June to September.
