The former defender started his international coaching career with the under-21 team in 2004 and served as an assistant with the senior team from 2011-2016 before taking the top job.    

Kanerva has guided Finland to the Euros for the first time in their history after they finished second in their qualifying group behind Italy.  

Captain: Tim Sparv    

Sparv was Finland’s defensive midfield lynchpin in the Nations League, making more tackles and interceptions than any other player in the team. He was named captain in 2015 and has made 78 appearances for the national team since his debut in 2009.            

Top player: Teemu Pukki    

Pukki is coming off another stellar season with Norwich City with his 26 goals helping the club regain promotion to the Premier League as second-tier champions.
