About 21 mine workers have died at Sibanye-Stillwater's mines this year.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) wants Sibanye-Stillwaters mine to be hauled before Parliament to answer on the recent fatal incidents at its mines.

About 21 mine workers have died at Sibanye-Stillwater’s mines this year.

DA MP Solly Malatsi says he will be writing to the chairperson of Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Mineral Resources to schedule an emergency meeting for the company to brief the committee.

Malatsi was speaking after visiting some of the families who lost loved ones at Sibanye-Stillwater’s mines.

“Their frustration with the lack of answers and their seemingly lack of openness on the part of Sibanye with regards to what actually led to the cause of death on the days and the lack of communication to the families. They are not being provided with the answers that they need and to hear them share that with us was so crushing,” says Malatsi.
