D-Day to submit objections on voters’ roll

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Political parties have until 5pm on Friday to submit objections to the Independent Electoral Commission over the provisionally compiled voters’ rolls.

If there are any parties that are aggrieved by the inclusion or exclusion of an individual, they should lodge their concerns with the IEC.

The Commission will look into the objections lodged before concluding the final voters’ roll on March 14.

Chief Electoral Officer, Sy Mamabolo, says parties then have until March 13 to submit their lists of candidates to ensure eligibility for the general elections.

“The 13th of March is the cut-off date for parties to submit their lists of candidates together with the prescribed deposit. As well as the closing date for those voters who wish to vote outside of the republic. They need to make applications by the 13th of March 2019.”
