The Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) says it has placed hundreds of stranded walk-in students who have been squatting in the campus multi-purpose hall.

The CPUT spokesperson Lauren Kansley says their teams have been working around the clock to place the students.

She says student leaders hampered their progress when they demanded to visit the accommodation and place the students themselves.

“As of Thursday morning, the Bellville campus has been cleared of all squatting applicants, and a handful will be processed today in District 6.”
