CORONAVIRUS: Your daily update

South Africa has recorded 4230 new COVID-19 cases in the latest reporting cycle, bringing the overall number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 3 759 689. This reflects a 16.8% positivity rate.

“The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 3 632 572 with a recovery rate of 96,6%,” notes the Department of Health.

According to the NICD, “There may be a backlog of COVID-19 mortality cases reported due to the current audit effort by the National Department of Health (NDoH). ”

“Today the Department of Health reports 12 deaths; of which 2 occurred in the past 24–48 hrs. Total fatalities are 100,298 to date,” nots the NICD.
