Following the attack on trains in Mamelodi, Metrorail suspended trains with immediate effect from Wednesday morning.

Suspended metrorail services in Mamelodi corridor has affected not only commuters who had made alternative transport arrangements but small businesses selling near train stations in Pretoria.

Following the attack on trains in Mamelodi, Metrorail suspended trains with immediate effect from Wednesday morning.

The transport service is not providing alternative transport to it’s commuters.

Metrorail has laid a charge of malicious damage to property but no arrests yet.

Owner of a fast food stall Nkosinathi Zulu says the suspension of trains is affecting his business: “Because most of my regular customers are not showing up, my business is affected. The food I prepare doesn’t finish because there are no customers buying the food.”

He says the police must assist the community in fighting the crime problem.
