Broos feels that some people want him to fail as Bafana Bafana coach

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says he thinks there are people in South Africa who don’t want to see him succeed as senior national coach.

Broos says there are people who are sabotaging his objective of rebuilding Bafana Bafana. The 69-year coach says he does not enjoy all the support he needs in performing his duties.

Broos was refused entry at the Orlando Stadium late last month to watch a DSTV match between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

The club and the Premier Soccer League later apologised for the treatment received by the coach and his technical staff. In the latest episode, Broos is struggling to locate Pirates midfielder Goodman Mosele who is part of the 23-man squad for two upcoming crucial back-to-back 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia.

“I was a frustrated coach because I am getting the feeling a little bit that some people in this country don’t want Bafana Bafana to become a successful team. Something that I never saw in my life as a coach or as a player, a player who doesn’t come to the camp. Goodman Mosele was selected for these games against Ethiopia, he didn’t even come to camp.”

Broos says he will be forced to exclude Sundowns forward Thabiso Kutumela for the two matches against the east Africans after the player only got his COVID-19 vaccination on Monday this week.

“Sundowns organised vaccination for Thabiso Kutumela, I have nothing against vaccinations because it’s a very good thing if you are vaccinated. But I am against the timing, they organise vaccinations during the camp. If you get the vaccination you can have symptoms, so it’s possible that today or tomorrow Thabiso can have the symptoms, flu symptoms, fever, cough or whatever so I can’t take him with me to Ethiopia.”
