South Africa’s limited-overs cricket captain, Temba Bavuma, has been ruled out of the upcoming four-match T20 International series against Pakistan after suffering a grade one hamstring strain.

He picked up the injury during the third and final One Day International in Centurion on Wednesday.

Heinrich Klaasen will lead the Proteas in his absence.

Meanwhile, Reeza Hendricks has withdrawn from the series after the birth of his first-born child on Tuesday, while Dwaine Pretorius has not been medically cleared to take part in the series as he continues rehabilitation from a rib fracture.

Star batsman, Rassie van der Dussen, will continue treatment and monitoring of his grade one left quadriceps muscle strain.

The first T20 International will be played at the Wanderers on Saturday.
