The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has announced that fuel will increase at midnight.
Both grades of petrol will increase by between R1.08 cents and R1.11 cents per litre, higher than what analysts had predicted.
Both grades of diesel increase by between R1,93 and R1,96 cents per litre.
The retail price of illuminating paraffin sees an increase, this time of R2.02 while the retail price of gas goes up by R2.50.
The department says the reasons behind the increase are increased crude oil prices, a weaker currency, and the implementation of a 30 cents per litre slate levy.
