Alfred Duma mayor in KZN appears in court on charges of illegal possession of firearms

The mayor of the Alfred Duma municipality at Ladysmith in western KwaZulu-Natal has appeared in a local magistrate’s court.

Mayor Vincent Madlala and his daughter – Sanelisiwe Madlala are facing charges of illegal possession of firearms.

The mayor is facing another charge of defeating the ends of justice.

This comes after a large police contingent went to his home in Ladysmith three days ago.

“Vincent Mayiboyi Madlala, the Mayor of the Alfred Duma Municipality in Ladysmith, appeared today in the Ezakheni District Court, together with his daughter – Sanelisiwe Sinazo Madlala. They were released on bail of 10-thousand rand each. Their matter was remanded to 22 October 2021 for further investigations,” says NPA spokesperson Natasha Kara.
