South Africa’s Lloyd Harris has advanced to the quarter-finals of the European Open tennis tournament in Vienna. Harris, ranked seventh for the tournament, but 32nd in the world, came up against Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff.

The 24-year-old looked solid and recorded a commanding 6-2, 6-3 win. Harris fired 11 aces to power past his German opponent and will face Hungarian, Marton Fucsovics, in the quarter-finals.

Fucsovics beat fourth-seeded Spaniard, Roberto Bautista Agut, in three sets in their match in the round of 16. Number two seed, Diego Schwartzman of Argentina, ousted Briton Andy Murray to also advance to the quarter-finals.

Murray, who came in as a wildcard, gave the 29-year-old a battle and nearly forced a third set by taking the second to a tie-breaker, before finally crashing out, losing 4-6, 6-7.

The match between the Scot and the Argentine was a long time coming as the two had never faced each other, despite more than a decade of overlap in their successful careers.
