No successor chosen yet as new Zulu monarch, says late King’s sister

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Princess Thembi Ndlovu, the sister of the late AmaZulu King Goodwill Zwelithini, says no successor has been chosen yet to be installed as the new Zulu monarch.

Princess Thembi was speaking at the memorial service of AmaZulu King in KwaNongoma in northern KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday.

She says King Goodwill Zwelithini had many children but nobody among the royal family knows who will ascend the throne.

She says when King Goodwill Zwelithini’s father, King Cyprian Bhekuzulu died in 1968, he did not know that he would be the successor.

“God showed us that life goes on all the time. He said we must plant a seed in the ground as the King is now a plant in the ground and many seedlings come out of this branch and the King has left many seedlings, but there is only one that only God knows which one. A lot of people like asking me who will be next. So, to make things clear, no one knows who will succeed the King. Only God knows that answer.”
