Former United States Ambassador to Tanzania, Charles Stith, says lockdowns make people less able to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

He argues in his latest opinion piece to a South African newspaper, that lockdowns result in people losing their jobs and incomes, and as such getting poorer.

The former Ambassador cites two scenarios as examples where President Cyril Ramaphosa recently effectively ended SA’s lockdown and his Tanzanian counterpart President John Magufuli didn’t impose one in the first place.
