The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it welcomes the ruling by the High Court in Pretoria to have the alleged confessions of two of the five accused admitted as evidence in the Senzo Meyiwa main trial.
The high court has ruled that the confessions allegedly made by accused number 1 Muzi Sibiya and accused 2 Bongani Ntanzi were made freely and voluntarily.
The main trial will resume on Friday.
Sibiya and Ntanzi are part of the five suspects accused of the 2014 murder of the Bafana Bafana captain.
NPA Spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana says the ruling is a relief for the state.
“The NPA welcomes the ruling of the court that the confession statements and pointing out made by accused 1 and 2 will now be brought before the court through the witnesses that took down the statements during the main trial that resumes tomorrow,” says Mahanjana.
