South Africa’s third telecommunications giant, Telkom, has announced a significant increase of 46,7% in its half-year profit.

The company released its financial results for the period ending September 2023.

Group CEO Serame Taukobong says this remarkable surge is attributed to reduced depreciation charges and a substantial boost from its data-driven strategy.

He has credited the positive outcome to the expanding usage of fiber optics and data services.

“It’s been a challenging environment. But we have seen positive growth. Our data-led strategy has shown us good results. The growth of fiber where we are seeing very high connectivity rates and our fiber business that is positive,” adds Taukobong.
