4 379 new COVID-19 cases recorded in SA

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has reported 4 379 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 3 472 436.

This increase represents a 23.1% positivity rate. The majority of new cases on Sunday are from Western Cape (27%) followed by Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal each accounting for 21%.

A  further 30 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 91 228 to date.

21 286 849 tests have been conducted in both the public and private sectors.  Below are the latest coronavirus statistics in South Africa:
