Delegates from various African National Congress (ANC) branches in the Western Cape have split into groups at the party’s Provincial General Council (PGC) in Cape Town to discuss their position on policy proposals and proposed constitutional amendments.

The changes were agreed to during the ANC’s national policy conference in July.

The PGC is expected to announce the Western Cape’s preferred candidate to lead the party nationally for the next five years.

ANC Secretary-General Gwede Mantashe is also attending the PGC, including delegates elected during branch general meetings.
