African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa has appealed to the church to pray for upcoming general elections to run smoothly.
South Africa says it agrees with Southern African Development Community (SADEC’s) organ on defence and politics’ Chair Edgar Lungu who has proposed that the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) stakeholders consider a negotiated settlement on the disputed presidential elections results.
The Southern African Development Community has called for dialogue in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The regional bloc has also asked those who are aggrieved by the announced presidential election results in the country to use the available legal mechanisms.
With Democratic Republic of Congo still reeling from the disputed victory of opposition challenger Felix Tshisekedi, the nation’s attention turned Friday to the results of the legislative elections to see who will control parliament for the next five years.
The Democratic Republic of Congo’s ruling coalition says it has taken note of Felix Tshisekedi’s provisional victory in the presidential elections but reserved the right to legally challenge its candidate’s score as over 1-million citizens were denied of their rights to vote in the elections.
