Proteas to take on India in final T20 match

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The South African cricket team will take on India the third and final T20 match at Newlands in Cape Town on Saturday.

The youthful team displayed an impressive performance in their series levelling victory in Centurion this past Wednesday and now stand a chance of clinching the series.

The three match series is level at one all after the men in blue won the first T20 in Johannesburg by 28 runs before the Proteas claimed a six wicket victory in the second.

The Proteas went into the second T20 fielding a very youthful side and it proved to be enough to keep their hopes of a series victory alive.

Wicket-keeper, batsman, Heinrich Klaasens’ man of the match performance of 69 runs of 30 balls and skipper JP Duminy’s 64 of 40 balls was enough to overcome a strong Indian attack.

Up and coming Klaasen has demonstrated he is a big hitter and a force to be reckoned with throughout the ODI and T20 series.

Batsman Farhaan Behardien says it is impressive to see how well Klaasen has taken to the international stage.

“A lot of confidence obviously off that tournament and into this T20 series and Heinrich Klaasen, you know I play with him the whole summer, and he is coming off some impressive form so I am very impressed that he’s taken to the international stage so quickly.”

This T20 will conclude Indias tour of South Africa, in which they lost the three match test series before demolishing the Proteas in the ODI series.

Proteas former captain Graeme Smith believes that there were many lessons to be learnt from their dismal ODI performance which could be used to their advantage in future.

The match is set to begin at six in the afternoon on Saturday.
