Higher Education Minister Naledi Pandor has called on students’ organisations to focus on real concerns and make every effort to resolve problems without disrupting the academic programme.

Two vehicles were set alight following violent protests on Westville and Howard campuses of the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban on Monday.

This led to the suspension of the academic programme.

The Wits University’s students’ representative council has vowed to shut down all academic activities in protest over issues related to accommodation and registration.
