‘A chief without land is like a Rhino without its horn – nothing’

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Khoisan Chief Mohammed Blou, also known as Chief Khoi Mogh, takes us back to the Khoi experiences during apartheid.

He says his first encounter with racism was after he could not attend Sunday school with his friend.

Blou amongst other Khoisan activists in Port Elizabeth who demanded an audience with President Cyril Ramaphosa last year, wants formal recognition of the Khoisan language and to be declared as first citizens of the country.

“At least now we have a Khoisan Bill that has been passed it just needs to be signed. This is a gateway towards full recognition, according to me, the Khoi and San as first nation status and, we really need land. Without land we are nothing.”
