Entries have opened for the revamped Berg River Canoe Marathon in the Boland.

The ultra-distance canoe race over four days from Paarl to Velddrif now offers two tiers of entries.

Race committee head André Collins says the title will now be decided in a team format of two paddlers per team.

Collins says the race will, however, continue to offer solo paddlers the opportunity to take on the 240 km in an individual K1, as is the race tradition since its inception in 1962.

In addition to the option of entering two paddlers, there is the option of entering a commercially branded and owned team, there is also an option for less experienced paddlers to enter the race in a three paddler relay team.

The race takes place from July the 11th to the 14th.
