The accuracy of a translation of an eNCA insert pertaining to an eyewitness in the murder trial of Pieter Doorewaard and Phillip Schutte was disputed in the North West High Court in Mahikeng on Tuesday.
The two allegedly killed 15-year-old Mathlomola Mosweu from Coligny in April last year. The defence has pointed out various discrepancies in the testimony and two affidavits of the eyewitness Bonakele Pakisi.
Pakisi, whose been on the stand since Wednesday, alleged he saw Mathlomola being manhandled by the two accused and thrown off a moving bakkie. During the eNCA insert, which was done shortly after the incident, he spoke in Tswana. The interview was accompanied by subtitles.
While state prosecutors and the court interpreter were watching it, it was pointed out that the sub titles, did not correlate with what Pakisi had said.
However, the interpreter disagreed and said the translation was correct. Pakisi claims to have witnessed Mosweu being thrown from a moving bakkie.
He said when the accused realised he had seen them. They allegedly kidnapped him, and among other things, forced him to drink huge amounts of alcohol and shot at him.
The duo maintain their innocence, and say Mathlomola jumped to his death, after they apprehended him for allegedly stealing sunflower.
The trial continues.
