Twenty three people have been arrested for various traffic-related offences in the Western Cape this weekend.
Provincial Traffic Chief Kenny Africa says 20 of these were driving under the influence, with one motorist four times over the legal alcohol limit.
He says no fatalities have been reported so far.
“This weekend in the Western Cape there was another round of roadblocks. We arrested 20 drunken drivers. The highest reading recorded was 1, 01 mg per 1000 ml and that was in Worcester. We also arrested one person in George for fraud and one person in Somerset West for reckless and negligent driving. One person was arrested in Vredendal for obstructing a traffic officer. “
