CEO of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) Steven Zwane has parted ways with the institution.

In a statement, NSFAS has confirmed that Zwane’s employment ended on Tuesday this week but would not give details or reasons for the termination of Zwane’s employment except to say that this followed a disciplinary process.

Zwane was suspended in August over allegations of maladministration.

The scheme has also been plagued by several challenges including the mismanagement of applications for funding and delayed payments to students.

NSFAS Spokesperson Kagisho Mamabolo says, “I can confirm that following the first day of his disciplinary hearing Mr Steven Zwane and the National Student Financial Aid Scheme concluded a termination agreement. Mr Zwane’s employment as an executive officer at NSFAS ended on October the second and all aspects of the termination agreement are all confidential on both parties.”
