President Jacob Zuma will no longer travel to Liberia on Sunday to attend the inauguration of George Weah as president of the West African country.

Water Affairs Minister Nomvula Mokonyane will represent South Africa at the inauguration instead.

The Presidency says Zuma is attending the two-day African National Congress (ANC) Legkotla in Irene outside Pretoria this weekend. The governing party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) debated his future as head of state on Friday.

It delegated the ANC’s Top Six leadership to engage with Zuma on the issue.
