Reading Time: < 1 minute

President Jacob Zuma is continuing  with his presidential duties, despite reports of his imminent recall by the ANC. Zuma hosted his  South Sudanese counterpart President Salva Kiir at his official residence Mahlamba Ndlofu in Pretoria.

The two presidents met for just an hour, and discussed the political and security situation in South Sudan. Zuma was accompanied by International Relations Minister, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane.

South Africa has been instrumental in negotiating a peace deal in South Sudan.

In 2014, President Zuma appointed Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa as the Special Envoy to South Sudan to assist with the resolution of the political impasse in that country.

President Zuma however refused to take any media questions… saying the meeting was not a media briefing.
