The Correctional Services Department says former President Jacob Zuma will undergo risk assessments to determine his needs at the Estcourt Correctional Facility in KwaZulu-Natal. He handed himself over to authorities last night to start serving a 15-month sentence.
The Constitutional Court last week sentenced him for contempt of court, after failing to abide by the Constitutional Court’s order to appear before the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture.

Spokesperson for the Department of Correctional Services, Singabakho Nxumalo, says the former President could be moved from Estcourt if his needs call for it.

United Democratic Movement leader Bantu Holomisa has commended former President Jacob Zuma for handing himself to authorities to serve his 15-months sentence given by the Constitutional Court last week for contempt of court. Holomisa says this is a lesson to other leaders.
