President Jacob Zuma will miss Monday’s National Youth Day Commemoration to be held in Galeshewe, Kimberley.
Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will stand in to deliver the keynote address. This comes after Zuma’s weekend stay in hospital.
An earlier statement from government had indicated that Zuma would address the National Youth celebrations. The President has been resting at home after spending a night in hospital for what the presidency described as routine tests.
Zuma is also missing the cabinet lekgotla currently underway.
Meanwhile, the theme for the 38th anniversary of the 1976 uprising is “Youth Moving South Africa Forward: Youth of South Africa History Makers and Legends of the Future”.
President Zuma’s next official engagement is the state of the nation address in Parliament on Tuesday.
