A tense atmosphere prevailed outside the venue on the second day at Mangaung.A contingent of Zuma supporters has set up camp outside Gate 1 of the University of the Free State where the ANC’s national conference is taking place. The group aren’t accredited delegates and therefore aren’t allowed into the venue.Earlier, tempers flaredbetween police and the group, when police attempted to disperse them, due to them blocking the entrance. They refused to move, exclaiming in anger they ‘aren’t doing any harm.’A member of the group warned one policeman ‘not to take the wrong decision.’Preparing themselves for any eventuality, police donned riot gear.While the supporters mostly sang pro-Zuma songs, a few lyrics were inflammatory in nature. “We’ve been suffering for a long time. First under the ‘Boers’, now under the ‘Black Boers’.”Police have maintained a strong presence.
