Zuma sends condolences to late Kgositsile family

President Jacob Zuma has sent his condolences to the family of National Poet Laureate, Professor Keorapetse Kgositsile.

Kgositsile died in Milpark hospital in Johannesburg on Wednesday at the age of 79 after a long illness.  He is the former husband of Speaker of Parliament Baleka Mbete with whom he had three children.

Zuma says Kgositsile was a celebrated art intellectual on the continent.

Meanwhile, the African National Congress has called on government to make more African literature available to school in order to expose new generations of South Africans to the work of Kgositsile and others.
