Zuma happy to be bowing out as ANC president

Reading Time: < 1 minute

President Jacob Zuma says he is humbled by having been given the opportunity to be president of the country, but is happy to be bowing out as ANC president.

He went for a walkabout at the expo centre at Nasrec in Johannesburg where the 54th National Elective Conference of the ANC is being held.

Zuma says from the ANC’s point of view, the conference was like another except that this time there were seven presidential hopefuls and that expressed the democratic nature of the ANC as well as the quality of the comrades in the organisation.

The results for the presidential election are expected later on Monday.

“Some of us who are going out, we are now going to be part of the delegations on the ground. If you hear the leaders saying the ground is saying this, they are talking about us. We are going to be influencing the progress and the state with which the ANC travels to prosperity, how fast, etc.”
