Zulu Royal budget increased

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Budget allocation for the Zulu Royal Households has increased from R58.9 to R65.8 million, a R6.9 million increase from last financial year.

The allocation is mainly used for the maintenance of the King Goodwill’s Royal Palaces, transportation and medical care of the royal family.

Tabling the KwaZulu-Natal Premier’s office, Premier Willis Mchunu says plans are also on the cards to ensure that the Zulu Royal Household generate its own revenue to reduce its dependence in government allocation.

“We are committed in ensuring that there will be a much sharper focus on revenue generating activities of the Royal Household Trust in the current financial year. A revenue generating plan has been developed to pursue public-private partnerships in exploring opportunities to utilise the Zulu Royal Household brand as a potential source of income to relieve the trust’s dependency on the provincial fiscus,” says Mchunu.
