Reading Time: < 1 minute

Citizens for Coalition Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa has left the opposition party with immediate effect.

Chamisa says Zimbabwe is facing a hostile political environment and majority of people are leaving the country.

The former CCC leader says his focus will remain in Zimbabwe and honouring its citizens.

Chamisa took part in last year’s elections where incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa won the controversial polls.

In a farewell letter, Chamisa has lamented the current state of affairs in Zimbabwe.

He says the opposition CCC has faced a number of obstacles even mentioning the hostile political environment and cited the August 23 SADC observer mission report which essentially revealed that the elections fell short of international and regional standard practices.

Chamisa has also accused the ZANU-PF of infiltrating the opposition party with a clear aim to destabilise it.

He further says he will remain in Zimbabwe and he has yet to announce his plans about his future.
