Zimbabwe’s electoral commission

Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) runs elections at all levels and is an independent body. It was established in 2004.
The ZEC has eight commissioners, appointed by President Robert Mugabe. The Chairperson is chosen after consultation with the Judicial Services Commission and the others appointed from a list of nominees from the Parliamentary Committee on Standing Rules and Orders. A Chief Elections Officer is appointed and is responsible for the day to day running of the ZEC.

According to the statement released by Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) registrar-general Tobaiwa Mudede, the voters’ roll now has 6-million people and 400,000 have registered as first-time voters.
