Supporters of the Zimbabwe’s main opposition, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Alliance, are holding a lunchtime march in Harare to register their doubts that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission will run a free and fair election.
The opposition says a range of electoral requirements and reforms have not been met, including publishing the Voters Roll. But the Electoral Commission says the Voters Roll will be made available to candidates.
A sea of red is filling central Harare as protesters get ready to march, as it becomes clear that the call by government spokesperson SK Moyo has not been heard.
The National Patriotic Front, that was formed by former President Robert Mugabe’s loyalists, has also joined the march.
The protests come two months before the July 30 poll that President Emmerson Mnangagwa has committed will be free, fair and credible.
