Zimbabwe trade fair sees growth in number of exhibitors

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The 59th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) has seen a 40% rise in direct exhibitors. Last year only 356 exhibitors participated, compared to 495 this year.

The exhibitors range from manufacturing to mining, agriculture, transport, education and tourism.

South Africa is Zimbabwe’s largest trading partner. It did not exhibit at this year’s fair despite having been awarded the best foreign exhibitor over that last five consecutive years.

Austerity measures in the Department of Trade and Industry has prohibited South Africa from participating.

The fair is also the first time President Emmerson Mnangagwa officiated as the Head of State following the resignation of former president Mr Robert Mugabe in 2017.

This year’s theme is ‘Sustainable Industrial Development – Inclusive, Competitive, and Collaborative.’

President Mnangagwa has called on businesses in Zimbabwe to work with government as it seeks to rebuild the country.
