Zimbabwe‘s Reserve Bank governor John Mangudya has denied reports that the country is to introduce a new currency. He was presenting a Monetary Policy Statement in Harare.

The issue of the currency continues to be a challenge in Zimbabwe. The Reserve Bank governor has announced measures to address it.

Mangudya is optimistic that Zimbabwe will rebuild its economy.

On the sidelines of the AU Summit in Addis Abba, President Emmerson Mnangagwa met his Southern African Development Community counterparts. One issue that dominated the talks was the economic challenges in that country.

South Africa says Zimbabwe needs help.

The two countries have been in talks trying to find a solution to the economic crisis there. This issue will again be a priority at the bi-national commission between Zimbabwe and South Africa in March.
