The KwaZulu-Natal Economic Development and Tourism Department has launched its “Spend Wisely” campaign ahead of the festive season in Ladysmith in the midlands of the province.
The campaign is geared at cautioning communities against reckless spending, especially over the December period.
MEC Sihle Zikalala says, “We are engaging with the community trying to alert them that the festive season is not the end; there will still be January and the whole of next year will still require us life (sic) and living still require us that we have money. People get bonuses and for those who are part of stokvels, the end of the year they should not take all their investment or bonuses and finish it during the festive season. Let us know that there is a year that is coming and will need that money. We will be ready to spend and during the festive season let us spend wisely.”
