Reading Time: < 1 minute

Zimbabwe’s governing party Zanu-PF has tabled a motion to expel President Robert Mugabe from the party.

The party’s central committee is currently meeting in the capital Harare.

Earlier the chairperson on Zimbabwe’s War Veterans, Christopher Mutsvangwa, said if the army cannot persuade Mugabe to step down – they will take over the negotiation process.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Zanu-PF Central Committee meeting – Mutsvangwa said they wouldn’t accept any other option other than Mugabe leaving office.

As Zimbabweans go about their Sunday they eagerly await the outcome of Zanu-PF’s Central Committee meeting.

The growing pressure for Mugabe to leave his office of 37-years is the main point of Sunday’s agenda.

The party’s youth league also wants First Lady Grace And President of the Women’s League Grace Mugabe to be expelled from the party.

Sunday’s decision will mark the beginning of a new era for the party and the country – no matter what the outcome is.
