Reading Time: < 1 minute

The leader of Zimbabwe’s opposition party, MDC-T, Morgan Tsvangirai, has asked for free and fair elections without violence. Protestors have blocked the road in front of Parliament, demanding the removal of President Robert Mugabe.

Members from both the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU-PF) and the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) are unified in their call for the elderly statesman to step down.

Parliament is scheduled to table a motion to impeach Mugabe on Tuesday afternoon.

It’s a united call by opposing sides for President Robert Mugabe to leave his office of 37-years.

The demonstration had started off as a non-partisan gathering and gained momentum as the day progressed.

There was a moment of fracas when a man believed to be part of the G40 cabal was attached in front of the Parliament building.

Tsvangirai addressed thousands of protesters gathered outside the Zimbabwean Parliament in Harare.
