Retailers such as Pick'n'Pay have started removing contaminated foods from their shelves.

Zambian authorities have requested all South African retail chain stores operating in Zambia to recall ready-to-eat meat products imported from South Africa.

Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Emmanuel Mwamba says these products dominate the retail space.

Mwamba says they have had to put precautionary measures in place as there is no Listeria outbreak in Zambia. He added that these precautionary measures will not affect trade with South Africa.
