The National Youth Crime Prevention Summit is set to start in Pretoria on Wednesday.

For the next three days, police authorities will engage with young people to find ways to create a safer South Africa.

A 2016 Stats SA survey shows that about 70% of young people are more likely to both victims and perpetrators of crime.

Former inmate, Author and Entrepreneur, Thando Lukhele has served a little over three years of his seven-year sentence at the Boksburg Correctional Services for kidnapping and armed robbery.

Lukhele wrote a book titled: Through it All, which speaks more about tribulations and search for his true identity, “In the most hopeless of places prison, I have found my purpose and I’m walking in the fullness of my calling.”

Speaking on Morning Live, Lukhele says he’s creating awareness and making noise about his past, speaking to prisoners and youth on how they can change their lives.
